ABOUT ASHLEY BITHREY
Ash is an experienced and specialised Counsel within the family law arena, having been recognised by the highly regarded Doyle’s Guide of Leading Family Law Barristers as recommended counsel in the jurisdiction.
Ash’s practice covers the spectrum of Family Law litigation at the interlocutory, trial and appellate level, where he particularly focuses his expertise on:
- Property division – including matters involving third party interests, corporate entities, taxation, valuation, and superannuation issues;
- Binding Financial Agreements and their validity;
- Spousal maintenance;
- Parenting cases – including international and interstate child relocation
In 2020, Ash became a nationally accredited mediator and imports his courtroom experience in assisting parties to try to resolve both their parenting and property disputes.
In 2021, he became a qualified Family Law Arbitrator and is able to hear and determine property disputes on both an interim and final basis.
Ash is regularly invited to present papers at seminars and conferences and is periodically invited by the Newcastle University Law School to guest lecture in Family Law Practice, Evidence, and Courtroom Advocacy.
Although based primarily in Newcastle, Ash’s clientele has seen him appear in Family Law Registries throughout the eastern half of the country – from Darwin to Brisbane, from Melbourne to Adelaide, and most in between. He regularly appears in the Sydney and Parramatta registries.
