ABOUT ALEXANDER BUTTERS

Alexander was called to Bar in 2022 following 7 years in practice as a solicitor in family law. He was born and educated in Newcastle.

Immediately before being called to the Bar, Alexander was Special Counsel at a boutique family law firm in Sydney. Alexander also held a position for two years as a Judge’s Associate to the Honourable Justices Austin and Cleary in the Newcastle Registry of the Family Court (as it then was).

Alexander’s expertise covers a wide range of complex family disputes, ranging from parenting matters involving relocations, child abductions, questions of parentage, and high-risk parties to property matters including intricate corporate and commercial entities (domestic and international) and Trust structures.

Alexander’s experience also ranges into Estate matters, and he has appeared before the Supreme Court of New South Wales in relation to contested wills and family provision claims.

Alexander’s previous roles have provided him with vast experience and understanding of both the Court’s and a client’s involvement in family law disputes. This places Alexander in a unique position to represent clients at any stage of a family law matter, from alternative dispute resolution through to Appeals.
